Since 1983. The operating monastery, which is subordinate to the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. It is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The monastery is famous for its frescoes made in the Samokov style. In essence, this is a complex building of 5 domes, inside which there are 3 altars and a wooden gilded iconostasis. You can see the icon of the Virgin Mary dated to the XIX century, as well as the heart of Tsar Boris III, whose remains were scattered by the Communists. There is also a unique wooden cross of Raphael (81cmX43cm) with unique carvings, depicting about 104 scenes from the Bible, and including more than 650 figures, no more than a grain of rice.
In addition to the main objects of the excursion, we visit all nearby attractions, Ivan Rylsky Cave and Kirilova Polyana, with a stop for lunch in one of the restaurants with traditional Bulgarian cuisine. There is free time to buy souvenirs for friends and family. At the end of the excursion, after lunch, return to the hotel.
